Hybrid Hearing Aid

New Hearing Aid Is ‘Hybrid’ makes no sense. I don’t see how this is different from a regular cochlear implant. One thing, though — I don’t think there is a big difference in how things sound through a hearing aid and a cochlear implant.

The hybrid works with partial insertion of the implant electrodes – just few mm instead of 20-25mm. It’s far enough to stimulate the high frequencies but not so far that it destroys the rest of the cochlea’s function; since the cochlea isn’t destroyed, a hearing aid can be used to stimulate the mid to lower frequencies.
